FalaComigo Project

The FalaComigo Project combines the most modern Information and Communication
Technology with simple, objective speech and raises awareness to safeguard heritage.
This National Strategic Reference Framework (QREN)-funded partnership initiative has
brought together the University, Corporate and Heritage Management Sectors.

Using the Palace of Monserrate as a reference, multimedia products were created which
integrate interactive virtual characters with speech recognition and synthesis,
incorporated into modern support equipment with attractive, ergonomic lines specially
designed to harmoniously blend into museum spaces.

TMN Fenómeno Augmented Reality App

Use your phone to explore the world around you and uncover a hidden reality: Augmented Reality for portuguese mobile operator TMN.

NearInteraction has developed an augmented reality experience connecting smartphones with TMN branded “Fenómeno” advertising panels and outdoors in several cities all over Portugal.
Passersby simply point their smartphones at the image displayed, and the sky literally becomes the limit to their imagination.

NearInteraction partners with onedotzero, the London-based moving image and digital arts organisation which commissions, showcases and promotes innovation across all aspects of moving image, digital and interactive arts.
A feature in the festival’s showcase in Porto, Portugal, NearInteraction produced an interactive multi-gesture application, powered by facebook connectivity, allowing users to engage and preview some of the best at the onedotzero festival.

Aventuras em Movimento, a partner at onedotzero, represents all artists, programs and educational level visual content, production and distribution.
We follow the evolution of audiovisual most representative artistic creations, giving audiences a vibrant mix of cinematic visions, narratives and unique creative styles.

If you are passing by the Lisbon Colombo Fnac concept store, check out NearInteraction’s ode to love on the way in, displayed in a giant 50″ inch screen. For the interactive piece, NearInteraction moved beyond gestural 2D into 3D, using the recently released Kinect infrared camera. Not only does this innovation allow tracking of more than one hand as well as depth of field producing a more sensorial environment for the user, it also has simultaneous multi-user use. The installation was navigated gesturally using both hands, creating a simple yet eye-catching Valentines promotion that many couples stopped to interact with before moving into the store.

Carnegie Mellon Innovation Forum on Services and Technologies for Interactive Media (NET-STIM)

Held at Pavilhão do Conhecimento in Lisbon, the foremost goal of the forum was to gather like minded expertise of Portuguese research centers, private companies and government agencies working in key interactive technologies and services of digital media. Diogo Terroso was invited to represent NearInteraction and partake in the opening roundtable discussion on Technologies for Interactive Media, exploring how interactive media services require an interdisciplinary approach, where the disciplines of design, communication, psychology, anthropology and sociology need to combine in an effective and innovative way in order to create new products and services, for example, media distribution services (the iPod and iTunes or eBooks and Kindle), social networks (Facebook and Twitter), or co-creation services (like YouTube and Blogging).

NearInteraction and the Comissão Nacional para as Comemorações do Centenário da República.

NearInteraction is proud to represent the Comissão Nacional para as Comemorações do Centenário da República (developed for the centennial celebrations since Republic implementation) with a travelling exhibition of a multi-touch interactive table that reads QR coded cards. Already displayed at two official meetings, the Congresso da Associação Nacional de Municípios Portugueses, in Viseu, Portugal, and a formal launch in the Biblioteca do Palácio Nacional da Ajuda, in Lisbon, Portugal, the table will be moving to multiple events and several locations around the country. The table displays an intuitive interface upon which the visitors can explore, amongst other topics, the significant events of the Republic, biographies of representative people as well as all the events and initiatives taking place in 2010 as part of the celebrations.

Interactive LEDwall at ModaLisboa | Estoril Fashion Force’33

NearInteraction joined forces with ModaLisboa | Estoril to create an interactive application for their catwalk LEDwall. Following the success of the previous edition, where NearInteraction featured an interactive multi-touch table that allowed realtime visualisation of the catwalk pictures immediately after each show, for this edition, NearInteraction presented a generative application that responds visually to the movement of each model as well as the sound accompanying the show.
